Periodontist & Implant Surgeon
Advanced surgical care.
Calm, clear, and personal.
I’m Dr. Jennifer Choe, a specialist in periodontal and implant surgery based in New York City. I provide advanced surgical care focused on long-term health, esthetics, and comfort — using evidence-based techniques delivered with clarity and calm.
Every smile deserves more than a quick fix — it deserves a plan for the future.
It begins with understanding.
Who am I, and what can you expect from me?
I’m an independent, periodontist and implant surgeon. Every diagnosis, treatment, and procedure comes directly from me — no handoffs, no assembly-line dentistry.
My approach is simple: listen carefully, explain clearly, and treat precisely. I take time to understand your goals, answer questions in plain language, and guide you through each step so you always feel informed and at ease.
My aim isn’t just a successful surgical outcome — it’s an experience that restores both health and confidence.
Understanding your needs
Most people don’t plan to see a periodontist — they’re referred, worried, or unsure what to expect.
My role is to bring clarity and calm to every step — explaining what’s happening, why it matters, and how we can restore health and confidence through precise, evidence-based care.
FAQ / Common Concerns
What My Patients Often Ask Me
Most people arrive with similar questions — about comfort, recovery, or what their treatment will involve.
Below are the ones I’m asked most often, with short answers that reflect how I explain them in person.
-
Implants are often the most stable, natural-looking way to replace a missing tooth, but they’re not the only path.
I always begin by seeing if your existing tooth can be preserved before discussing any surgical solutions. -
Bone grafting helps rebuild the foundation that supports your teeth or implants.
It’s a gentle, regenerative treatment that restores structure and prevents long-term bone loss. -
Healthy gums are what hold your smile in place.
If recession or disease has weakened that support, minimally invasive grafting can restore protection and balance. -
You’ll always be comfortable — whether that means local anesthesia, light sedation, or full IV sedation.
We decide together based on the procedure and your comfort level. -
Most patients are surprised by how manageable recovery feels.
With careful planning and clear after-care, healing is smooth, steady, and predictable.

A calm approach to surgical care
Why do patients describe my care as calm?
Because I take the time to slow things down.
Every procedure begins with a clear conversation — what’s happening, why it’s needed, and what to expect at each stage.
I use visual guides and plain language so you can follow along and ask questions freely. Once treatment begins, patients often tell me they feel unexpectedly at ease.
My goal is for every step — from consultation to recovery — to feel deliberate, precise, and calm.
A patient’s experience
I had heard horror stories about wisdom tooth surgery, but Dr. Choe made it completely painless. I felt calm during the procedure and had no pain afterward — truly the best dental experience I’ve ever had.

Specialized training, focused experience
Where did I train, and what’s my experience?
I completed my specialty training in Periodontics and Implant Surgery at the New York University College of Dentistry, where I received advanced surgical instruction in implant and regenerative therapies.
For over twenty years, I’ve focused on precise, evidence-based treatment — from implant placement and bone grafting to minimally invasive gum surgery. My approach is conservative: preserving natural teeth whenever possible, and recommending implants only when restoration offers the best long-term outcome.
I also collaborate closely with restorative dentists and other specialists to ensure each case is planned with both function and aesthetics in mind. Every patient receives care grounded in the latest science, delivered with clarity, precision, and calm.

I maintain open communication from consultation to follow-up, sharing imaging, updates, and treatment notes so every patient receives coordinated, seamless care.
My role is to support — to handle the surgical aspect with precision and clarity — while ensuring each restorative plan proceeds smoothly.
The goal is always the same: exceptional outcomes, delivered collaboratively and transparently.
